Community Service

The ministries at Kent Covenant happen in large part because of one thing: volunteers. People who use their skills and talents in the community at large and within the community within KCC.

God has specially made and shaped you with gifts, talent and skill!  There are things that you can do and because it's customized for your talents, interests and abilities, you'll LOVE doing it along side others who share the same skills and interests!

When you step up to serve, God can use you in ways you never expected.

May is National Foster Care Month – a time to make a lasting difference in a child’s life. There are about 382,400 American youth under 18 in foster care. No matter how much time you have to give, you can do something positive that will “Change a Lifetime” for a young person in foster care. For more information on how you can help, please visit www.fostercaremonth.org  today.

Sunday, May 12 we will pray for KCC foster and adoptive parents in our worship services.  There will be a foyer informational display about how we can all help support foster kids and families.

Also kitchen items such plates and bowls, cups/mugs, drinking glasses, cutlery, cooking utensils (serving spoons, spatulas, cooking knives) and can openers. KENT HOPE
Every Wednesday and Friday 4 - 8 volunteers meet at KCC at 8:00 p.m. and ride together to seek out those sleeping in cars and public places in Kent.  We offer food, hot chocolate, warm clothes and socks, blankets, prayer and encouragement.  Sign up by contacting Pastor Susan or 253-631-0222 ext. 308.

When the temperature dips below freezing for 24 hours or more, we will offer to take homeless families and individuals to the Kent Severe Weather Shelter at Kent Lutheran Church,  336 2nd Ave. S.

Come meet our homeless neighbors, see how they live and provide practical help, hope and encouragment.

This program began November 21 and on the second night, volunteers met a homeless woman who was ready to take the first step to sobriety and getting off the streets.  A volunteer arranged to meet her at an AA meeting the next morning.  Caring relationships are the key to providing hope for a better future.
